Godminster cheeses are amazing, but this Oak Smoked version had me scratching my head a little when my palate realised it tasted incredibly like smoked mackerel... clashing with the bread, tomatoes, cucumber etc I chose to have with it ??
In the past I have never enjoyed a smoked cheese. I found others tasted processed. I got this in the flash sale not realising it was smoked. This cheese has changed my views. It would be perfect on a cheeseboard or as I enjoyed it, in a sandwich. This is the second Godminster cheese I have tried and am now happy to try more of thier products. One star lost because of the price. But its QUALITY cheese. I actually quite liked the packaging too. Would put it in a hamper.
So full of flavour I hope youll restock soon. I guess the shrink wrap is a bit hard to deal with but the outer package which is a small cloth sachet is nice. My mom asks for this cheese as she loves reusing the cloth sachet to make her original herbal bath kit. And oh she loves the cheese itself!
Nice cheese, shame about the packaging, as described in in one-star review below. Thick shrinkwrap plastic within is the worst you can use, I reckon. The cheese can't breathe at all and there is bound to be some leeching of the plastic into the product. Yuk!
was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of this cheese - yum - will be buying again
For wasteful pretentious wannabes only
The cheese arrives in a ludicrous custom fabric pouch complete with stiched drawstring, inside of which is bog-standard shrink-wrap plastic packaging. The pouch has no purpose other than, presumably, to appeal to the pretentious who like the idea of cheese in fabric - even though it's in plastic anyway - and just it goes in the bin immediately. Completely pointless bit of pollution. Avoid if you have any shame about un-necessary wastage.
