The motto of the Château d'Ampuis "Hard work reaps its rewards" illustrates the family philosophy of quality aimed at achieving the fullest and most consistent expression of the noble Rhône appellations.

History
The Guigal Estate was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis, a small ancient village and cradle of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. It shelters a unique vineyard where the vines and the wines have been famous for 2,400 years.
Regional Information
For this wine The Guigal's work with vine growers in the Southern Rhône, where the vineyards, many of which sit either side of the Rhône river, consist of clay, limestone and alluvial soils. Yields in these vineyards are a low, around 2.3 tons per acre, and the average age of the vines is 25 years. Côtes du Rhône lays claim to having some of the oldest vineyards in the world, and is drenched in sunlight, resulting in wines with unmistakable flavours of the South.
