Bitter orange is a hybrid of mandarin and pomelo. It's sometimes known as Seville orange - the favoured variety for marmalade and for our Chocolate Orange Pot. We chose it for its sublime tang, the bitter orange oil cuts through our mellow 50% milk chocolate and thick butter caramel.
Just like cacao, passion fruit is believed to have originated in the Amazon rainforest. No wonder the two ingredients work so divinely together. When searching for the perfect chocolate grade to encase our zingy Passion Fruit Hearts, we knew our creamy white would deliver delightful contrast.
Our Passion Fruit Heart is made with passion fruit grown outside the Amazon rainforest.
Of the 1,000 varieties in the world, we've cherry-picked two to feature in our Triple Cherry chocolate: the morello and the sour. The latter species thrives in Traverse City just across Lake Michigan from our Chicago stores where the bright-hued fruit is celebrated annually at an eight-day festival.
