Product Information
Thai Chilli Basil (Pad Kra Pao) Stir Fry is arguably the national dish of Thailand. We've made a simple dish even simpler by blending a unique mix of red chillies and aromatic garlic into a ready-to-cook paste. You'll still have to provide the basil, as this is best sourced fresh. Perfect for a traditional Pad Kra Pao, this versatile paste also works as the base for many stir fry dishes. Simply add your favourite protein, vegetables, and a splash of soy and oyster sauces for a quick, flavour-packed meal. And don't forget to top with a crispy fried egg!

Brand details
Fresh flavour starts in the freezer. At Ice Kitchen, we make fresh-frozen cooking pastes for curries, stir-fries and marinades. We blend real ingredients - herbs, spices and aromatics - then freeze them immediately, so you get big, fresh flavour without the prep. No UPFs. No preservatives. No half-used jars at the back of the fridge. With your favourite protein and veg, you can cook a proper meal in minutes. Why frozen? Because fresh flavour doesn’t belong sealed in a jar for months. Fresh herbs, chillies, garlic, ginger and aromatics are at their best when they taste bright and vibrant. Freezing lets us protect that flavour without relying on preservatives or heavy processing. That is why Ice Kitchen lives in the freezer.

-1 1/2 tbsp Vegetable oil (20g)
- 1 tbsp Soy sauce (15g)
- 1 1/2 tbsp Oyster sauce (25g)
- 250g Minced pork/chicken/tofu
- 100g Green beans, chopped
- 1 Red onion (100g), thinly sliced
- 1 Bunch basil, torn (holy, Italian or Thai)
- 2 Crispy fried eggs with runny yolks
Steps
1. Heat the oil on low. Add the frozen paste and cook for 2-3 mins, until melted and sizzling.
2. Add the minced meat/tofu & cook on medium-high for 3 mins.
3. Add the green beans and cook for 2 mins.
4. Add the red onion & cook for 3-4 mins until the meat is done.
5. Stir in the soy and oyster sauces and cook for 30 secs, then turn off the heat.
6. Stir through the basil & serve with steamed jasmine rice and a crispy fried egg each.
Top tips
- Holy basil is traditional; Italian basil is the closest substitute, but Thai basil works too.
- Adjust the soy and oyster sauces to taste - they provide all the salt in the dish.
