The story behind Kühne started as far back as 1722 when Johann Daniel Epinius founded a small vinegar distillery. This was later taken over by the Kühne family who, in 1832, became the first vinegar producers in Germany to introduce a revolutionary quick brewing process enabling them to transform a craftsman’s business into a high-class manufacturing company. This, in turn, led to the launch of other products including mustard, mayonnaise, sauerkraut, red pickled cabbage, dill relish and dill pickles… and, of course, cucumbers in the form of whole pickled gherkins.

Today, Kühne Pickled Gherkins are available in two different sizes of jars (670 grams and 330 grams), as sliced gherkins in Kühne Gherkin Sandwich Slices and as Kühne Gherkin Sweet Pickle Relish. Also available are Kühne Burger Gherkins, which are ideal for all sorts of burgers and posh dogs and this explains why Kühne, the proud recipient of no fewer than 14 Great Taste Awards, are sponsoring the 2024 National Burger Awards where they will be supplying pickles to feature in Britain’s best burgers.
