Brand details
Kühne prides itself on being known as “The Veggie Company”, with a long tradition of growing and preparing sustainable pickles which have their roots in the traditions of three centuries ago.
The story behind Kühne started as far back as 1722 when Johann Daniel Epinius founded a small vinegar distillery. This was later taken over by the Kühne family who, in 1832, became the first vinegar producers in Germany to introduce a revolutionary quick brewing process enabling them to transform a craftsman’s business into a high-class manufacturing company. This, in turn, led to the launch of other products including mustard, mayonnaise, sauerkraut, red pickled cabbage, dill relish and dill pickles… and, of course, cucumbers in the form of whole pickled gherkins.
