History

The idea of forming a partnership between Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite and the prestigious Argentinian wine family Catena was born in 1999 and named Bodegas CARO, (CA from Catena, and RO from Rothschild). Initial enthusiasm quickly became a concrete plan to produce wines that would combine French and Argentine cultures. The Bodegas CARO winery, set in the heart of Mendoza, has been producing wines since the 2003 vintage.

Vinification details

Grapes are harvested by hand, carefully selected, destemmed and crushed before being placed in stainless steel tanks for fermentation. A traditional winemaking process ensues with pump-over and délestage. Total maceration time lasts from 12 to 15 days. Aruma is aged in tanks in order to preserve its fruit-driven style and allow the varietal characteristic of the Malbec to shine through.
