Brand details
The idea of forming a partnership between Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite and the prestigious Argentinian wine family, Catena, was born in 1999. Initial enthusiasm quickly became a concrete plan to produce a single wine that would combine French and Argentine cultures and enhance the alliance between the signature grape of each producer, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. At Bodegas CARO, blending is not just about the wine. It is finding the perfect expression of the blending of two cultures; a fusion of characteristics giving birth to something greater. When the old world merges with the new. When youth matures with experience. When exuberance grows more delicate. When Bordeaux meets the Andes. Bodegas CARO is all that.

Regional information
Grapes are sourced from selected plots of old vines in Lujan de Cuyo just outside Mendoza, and also from Altamira, further South. In Lujan de Cuyo, soils are quite varied depending on how close vineyards are to the mountains or to the Mendoza River, and tend to form alluvial layers of loam, rock, and gravel. In Altamira, vineyards are planted at 1000m above sea level, on the ancient alluvial bed of the Tunuyan River.
Tasting notes
Petit Caro is very fruity and fresh on the nose, followed by generous aromas of red fruit, strawberry, blackcurrant, hints of violets, old spice, flower and graphite. On the palate, it's indulgent with a velvety texture and substantial body. The refined tannins promise excellent ageing potential.
