Further description
If there is one Non vintage Brut Champagne that is universally appreciated, it is surely Lanson Black Label Brut, a great classic that embodies the ideas and the character of a great house. "The Lanson taste" expressed in the Black Label Brut is the result of a specifically formulated blend perpetuated year after year. The three champagne grape varieties are used to make this wine: the predominant one is Pinot Noir, for body and power; over one third is Chardonnay, which adds finesse and delicate aromas; lastly, Pinot Meunier completes the blend with its tender, fruity notes. In all, this champagne is a blend of some 50 to 60 crus, each vinified separately until the time comes when it is used in the blend. To achieve a perfect harmony in the blend and ensure consistency in taste and style, Lanson use between 15-30% of reserve wines. One important point: Lanson does not do the malo-lactic fermentation. By excluding this process, the freshness and fruitiness of the individual cuvees are preserved and the wines stay fresh for longer. Thanks to this particular technique, Lanson wines are able to develop their full potential and better express their rich aromatic characteristics.
