Bad packaging
I've had a few problems with opening these. On another occasion, the seals were bad due to other heavy products being packed right on top. There's a lot of water packed with the fish and it goes everywhere.
Swimming in liquid
These were always a reliable purchase, firm and tasty. But lately the fillets have been swimming in liquid, which makes me wonder why.
Nowhere near as good as they used to be
I used to buy these all the time. It was the first M&S item that went on my list. The lightly smoked taste was perfect. So much so that I never told people where I bought my salmon. Little by little, they became harder to find (I thought due to demand) but I wonder now whether its because people dont buy them any more. The shapes are inconsistent, resulting in uneven cooking and, the flavour a bit meh and texture is awful. I gave up trying to look for them in shops but the full shop/online price is not worth it anymore. Its a shame as never found an equivalent or better flavour. Time to try a new fish I think.

The Smokey taste takes this salmon to another level!
I agree, not as good anymore
These used to be my all time favourite salmon fillets. Didn't want normal salmon when you could have these - but the past few weeks, they've changed. M & S fish always seem to go the same way, the smoked Norwegian haddock is the same. Gorgeous at first, but now they are tasteless and not as tender. Disappointed these smoked salmon are now not as good, just like eating normal salmon but with more of a rubber texture. Just weird. Keep trying and hoping that they'll go back to their usual standard but it's not happened so far
not as good as they used to be
we've ordered these for a long time and are expensive but tasty enough to feel worth it. seem to have reduced the salt content and they are now quite tasteless and no longer worth paying more for. will go back to normal salmon
