I guess that's what you have to pay to avoid UPF modified maize starch. Very mild
Alright as a base \- as others have said
Spice level is decent and perfect for me as an average curry eater (will be too mild if you regularly eat raging hot curries). Flavour is alright. I find most supermarket jars disappointing and this was no different. Straight from the jar I gave it three stars and I wouldn't particularly enjoy it on its own with meat. However you can improve it by using a small amount of butter/ghee (heaped teaspoon), some sugar (probably around another teaspoon / heaped teaspoon), and a bit of MSG (no it won't kill you). With a bit of fresh coriander you're starting to get closer to a decent balti (decent have any tomatoes to hand but a few wedges of tomato, slightly cooked to soften near the end, would probably help too). I suspect this sauce (like so many other products) is a victim of trying to make the traffic light colours on the front look better (healthier but not very tasty) so basically you have to put the fat/sugar/msg back in to make it taste right.
best jar sauce I ever had.
Cooked using 300g of chicken (browned) then simmered in sauce for 12 minutes till it thickened up, throw in a handful of chopped coriander and hand with M&S Middle Eastern flat breads. So good and delicious. Never tried this before and will definitely buy again.
Tasty easy sauce
Like the taste, quite mild. Good base to add a tin of lentils too to bulk up.
Bland.
Brought this product as a quick dinner during a busy week. Not worth bothering with, its bland and has a strange viscosity, like to much thickener was added. Gross.
very nice!
I usually purchase the Lloyd grossman balti sauce but decided to give this a shot and glad I did, coupled with chicken leg and basmati rice it made a delicious balti! This will be the new go to
