Very Strange Flavour
Texturally, these truffles are great. They are coated in cocoa powder, have a delicate thin and crisp chocolate shell and a smooth, creamy centre. However, Ive take off stars because the flavour is very, very peculiar. The only thing I can compare it too is like over ripe, very brown banana with a slight chocolate background taste. This is not how a Marc de champagne truffle should taste. I can only imagine its due to too much sugar. Its a shame as the price is good. But I guess its too good to be true given that these are half the price of all of Marc de champagne truffles Ive come across.
very good
these are very good for a budget truffle. the flavour profile is broadly correct and I can only imagine that some of the adverse reviews for this product stem from confusing Marc de champagne, a grappa type distillate, with champagne. broadly speaking, champagne truffles have a mild winey flavour, whilst Marc de champagne truffles have a much more complex flavour profile and a more alcoholic backdrop.
very bitter, and floury texture
I was really looking forward to these as a treat but they were that bad they went in the bin, after offering them out to anyone whod like to try one, all were in agreement that they were really bitter and the outer dusting was so thick and floury like. Save your money and get a different brand.
Disgusting, with stinky packaging
The first impression of the packaging is good - then you open the box, to be overwhelmed by the stinky, chemical-smelling gold coloured plastic bag that they’re in. Unsurprisingly, the awful packaging flavours the chocolates, which also taste and smell of nasty chemicals. It should also be made clearer on the packaging that they are plain chocolate champagne truffles, as it’s only in small print on the back of the box, and dark chocolate isn’t to everyone’s taste. If the chocolates are decanted into another box, the smell and taste of the packaging does fade after a few days, and the chocolates improve.
awful
The most fake flavouring ever. Straight in the bin which is a shame as they were a gift to us.
Perfect!
These have become my favourite chocolates.
