"My fellow members of the Stinky Cheese Fan Club might need no prompting from me on the Epoisses front, but if you’ve yet to taste this strong yet creamy Burgundian cheese, you have a treat in store. It’s essential you take it out of the fridge in plenty of time to let its texture ripen to full ooze, the better to spoon it onto a waiting cracker!" Nigella Lawson

Great
one of our cheeseboard staples. occasionally underripe but this week was perfect running off the board by the time we got to it!
Simply Gorgeous
A divine, strong, gooey cheese that I’d advise storing in its own little tub in the fridge so it doesn’t make everything else smell/taste cheesy (1st time I bought it, it made the ice cubes in my American FF cheesy). I wish Ocado would review their pricing though as the exact same Berthaut Epoisse, same weight is £7.25 from Waitrose online. *Note. I’ve been buying this specific cheese for over 20 years and have never had maggots. I would strongly suggest the reviewer who experienced this rethink their food hygiene practices.
One of the best cheeses out there
Especially good when melted on french bread. Never had any quality issues with it (even from Ocado). Id suggest the person who claimed to have maggots in it is just saying that cos they read an article about Casu martzu cheese and are easily confused. Either that or they have really bad hygiene.
Maggots
The packaging says it is made with pasteurized milk. But is it? Ours developed maggots two days before the use by date. Suggest you avoid this cheese.
Nice Epoisses, eat quickly
Nice epoisses, but I recommend eating well before best before date and in one sitting once cut into. Loses one star because more expensive than elsewhere.
smelly but delicious
for those who are really fond of good cheeses, this one has a creamy texture and a strong flavor. real delicious
