oh dear - disappointing

Maybe I had a dodgy bottle but this Chianti wasnt a pleasant experience at all, acidic and rough. Best with food. But Ill be buying the M&S Chianti riserva which is a much smoother wine.

Actually quite pleasant and rather moreish

I wouldn't normally buy own label wine as I am a snob, however my propensity for quaffing wine is now so great that my wallet cannot keep up with my consumption. So here with are with an M&S Chianti. And it ain't half bad. Light, dry, fresh and with that tart red berry flavour you hope for with Sangiovese. At £8 you really can't complain and if you throw a few in as part of a cyclical 25% off deal then you're paying £6 for a DOCG Chianti. Bonkers. Rating: BUY.

Nice, but not a traditional chianti

This is very quaffable, but doesn't have the spicy flavour of a typical chianti. This tastes more like a cote du rhone, which is no bad thing. I would buy it again if I wanted a decent, good value, easy-drinking wine, but I wouldn't buy it if I wanted a good chianti.
