Really Lovely

Glad I took the risk, despite the poor reviews. I cooked it medium rare and it was a lovely piece of meat.

Not great - chewy and sinewy

So dissatisfied with the quality for a premium price. I used a Tom Kerridge recipe but most of us left half of it. Too chewy, veins and sinews. Wont buy again.

lovely

Seasoned with Himalayan sea salt and rainbow pepper, then rubbed joint with extra-virgin olive oil. left in the oven for one hour on gas mark five, did baste a few times, Left to rest for 20 minutes after I got out the oven, and was medium cooked, it was beautiful, served four adults and two dogs. Everyone had a beautiful Sunday roast.

Not the beef joint I was looking forward to.

I had been eagerly awaiting my Sunday roast beef on 18/2/24. Imagine my dismay when I actually cut the string off the joint of beef, it was not one joint of beef but two smaller joints tied together. That would not normally be a problem, however both smaller joints of beef had an extremely tough covering of gristle running the length of the joints. By the time I had cut away the gristle from the outside of the joints, I noticed one of the pieces of meat had a vein of gristle running through the joint. This meant I had to cut this away also. So instead of being able to cut nice thin slices of beef for the family, we were left with bits and pieces of meat to plate up. Don't get me wrong the meat that was available to eat was very moist and tender, however we probably ended up with about half the meat we had purchased. I expect better from Marks and Spencer's after all their products are not cheap. I think retailers should be forced to put in their descriptions of beef joints if they are more than one piece of meat that is rolled together to make one larger joint. Had this information been available I most certainly would not have purchased it. When I purchase a joint of beef I expect to get a joint of one piece of meat, not sub prime pieces tied together to form one joint. I think the only way to buy decent joints of beef is to use a butcher so you can watch the beef being cut and tied in front of you to ensure you get a one whole piece of beef. Sunday dinner ruined, I was fuming M and S / Ocado you really must do a lot better with the beef products you are selling to your customers.

We cooked it as per BBCs recipe and it was really good. Quite a small joint but they have adjusted the pricing a bit so its fair.
