not very nice
This wasnt rotten but it wasnt very nice either - had a weird taste. wouldnt recommend
Utterly Vile
I should have been suspicious of the very short use-by date. I should have worried more about the curious smell - not quite rotten, but definitely not turkey. I could have paid more notice to the extraordinary amount of liquid produced (along with a lot of pale, scummy fat). But I sailed blithely on. Huge mistake - because if I'd paid attention to all of the warnings earlier, I could still have taken something else out of the freezer and potentially rescued the meal. But no. I cooked it EXACTLY according to the instructions, and it wasn't until I lifted it out of the tray to discover something akin to a rather slimy sea sponge on one side (discarded that bit completely) along with two not very well joined-together bits of mystery meat - one of which looked like reformed turkey (at least it was the right colour) whilst the other was dark pink and porous, but impossible to cut because it disintegrated into chunks - rather like pet food - on contact with a knife. Oh, and all topped with a ridiculously thick piece of rather nasty skin and a couple of very tired bits of rosemary. This was the single most disgusting thing I've ever had from Ocado - and not at a cheap price. I have asked for a refund. Between this, a key missing item, and a horrendous substitution, Ocado managed to ruin every part of my Christmas menu this year. Shame on them.
Rotten meat
Unfortunately this smelled and looks rotten. Ordered a couple of day before Christmas Day, not out of date according to packaging but this absolutely stank of rotting meat when opened on Christmas Day to cook. Shocking
Worst Turkey Ever
Odd smell and taste, does not good in the recommended time, strange texture, would not recommend.
advertised as Oakham
We have been buying Oakham for a while. This year even though it is advertised as Oakham arrived with no sign of Oakham on it and tasted tough nothing like Oakham quality!!!!
Excellent cooked a different way
Having read the reviews I decided to try to alleviate the risk of the funny flavour. I took the joint out of all the packaging and put in a foil lined roasting tin. Put some water around the joint, seasoned it well with pepper and covered joint generously with smoked streaky bacon. Closed the foil package and baked at 180 for 1 hrs 40 mins. Uncovered and carried on cooking until bacon was crispy, about 45 mins. After resting, this joint was absolutely delicious. No trace of odd flavours and really moist. Will buy again and will buy their chickens and cook same way.
