Tasty but use within 1 week!
Tastes lovely but I can’t use within 1 week. Just got wasted
Very poor version of kecap manis
Cook's brand is much better (order from Amazon). I wouldn't buy this version again
Perfect
This is just the right level of sweetness and thickness
A New Find
A small drop to a stir fry or rice or used as a dip with spring rolls etc. A popular new addition to the family cupboard/fridge. Lasting well. It is ultimately soy sauce thickened and sweetened.
OK but not life\-changing
This is essentially just soy sauce with a load of sugar added. The added sugar means that its a lot thicker than normal soy sauce, almost more like a syrup or a glaze, which makes it better for some dishes where you want it to "stick" to things and provide a coating, but less versatile for stir fries etc. It tastes perfectly nice but its very sweet and I'm not sure I'd use it as often as regular soy sauce or that its sufficiently different to make it worth keeping in the cupbaord alongside regular soy sauce unless you plan to do loads of malay cooking that specifically calls for it as an ingredient. I'll just stick to regular soy sauce personally.
Try it!
Just used it for the first time today! It really added something to my stir-fry! I also poured a wee bit on my plate to taste.., delish. I've already ordered another bottle as it ain't gonna last long!
