A deservedly popular variety known for its sweet, crunchy flavour and texture.
March to July.

In a prepared seed bed. Sow thinly in rows 25cm apart. Cover with 1.5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear 7-14 days. For continuous crops sow every 2-3 weeks. For ‘cut and come again’ baby leaves no further thinning is required. Or, when large enough thin to 15cm apart for mature ‘hearted’ plants. Keep moist and weed free. Protect early sowings with cloches. May to October, harvest baby leaves a few at a time allowing leaves to grow for 2-3 further cuts. Or, mature lettuces as soon as the hearts have formed.

For maximum 'freshness' cut lettuces in the morning or evening.
