A gourmet treat with smooth, thin yellow skins and crisp flesh. The compact plants yield prolifically and are ideal for smaller gardens or containers.

Preparation and Usage

For indoor sowing
When March to May.
Where In pots of seed compost.
How Sow singly into a pot edgeways into the compost. Cover with 1.5cm of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15-20°C. Seedlings appear 7-14 days.
Care Remove cover when seedlings appear. At 5-6 leaf stage, stand outside for a few days late May (avoid frosts). Transplant 60cm apart in growing position.
Harvest July to October. Pick regularly to encourage cropping.
For outdoor sowing
When May, or April under cloches.
Where In a well prepared seed bed in growing position.
How Sow 2 seeds per position, 60cm apart. Cover lightly with 1.5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist.
Care Thin to one seedling per position.
Harvest July to October. Pick regularly to encourage cropping.

Other Information

Plant out under cloches, late April to fruit in June. Any bitter tasting fruit should not be eaten.
