Very productive traditional variety with long creamy white roots and broad shoulders. Good sweet flavour, stores well over a long period.
Preparation and Usage
For outdoor sowing
When February to May, protect early sowings with cloches if soil is cold and wet.
Where In a prepared seed bed.
How Sow thinly in rows 40cm apart. Cover with 1.5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear 14-32 days. For a longer harvest season make an early and late sowing.
Care Thin as necessary to a final spacing of 20cm. Replace any dislodged soil. Keep moist and weed free.
Harvest October to February. Leave roots in the ground as flavour is improved by frost. Lift remaining roots in February and store undamaged roots in sand in a dry frost-free area.
