FLAVOUR IS A FRONTIER
Natoora British Comice Pears
- Pears have a notoriously short window of ripeness, none more so than the Comice variety. Never fully ripening on the tree, they must be picked and matured in storage. - Our Comice come straight from two farms in Kent and Sussex. We start off with harvests from Brogdale, Kent, home to the National Fruit Collection. Later in the season they come to us from Ringden, a small-scale family fruit farm in the High Weald of East Sussex. - Intensively-grown examples are often harvested too soon and never reach their full potential. Both of these growers have the expertise to pick at exactly the right moment, when the pears have developed their characteristic high juice content and buttery texture - Our growers can pinpoint each stage of maturity: when exactly to pick from each of his trees, how long the pears should ripen in storage and the precise moment they’re ready to eat.

These are everything you want in a pear! And they they are huge! I took a star off as they still come with plastic packaging whereas for the amount we pay, they should be more conscious and pack in a more eco friendly material.
These pears were firm, juicy and sweet. I can only think we got a good batch looking at some other reviews. I always let pears sit in the fruit bowl a few days before consuming so that theyre fully ripe and these were lovely to eat.
