FLAVOUR IS A FRONTIER
Natoora Marinda Winter Tomatoes
- Marinda is one of the four varieties that we have brought under one banner – Winter Tomatoes – to mark out tomatoes that can only reach their full potential during the cooler months.
- From November to May, skilled growers can exert high levels of water-stress on their plants which would be impossible in hot, dry seasons. They grow in saline coastal regions, in poor, free draining soils; two factors that add to their stress rooted-growing.
- We consider Marinda to be the most complex of all the Winter Tomatoes that we source. Large, with extreme lobing, their savoury intensity is balanced by sweetness that only comes from slow growth in cool temperatures.
- With hot temperatures now enduring well into October in Sicily, the season for Marinda may shift further and further as the heat makes it impossible for growers to exert the water stress needed to bring out Marinda’s distinctive profile.
Take it further
- Best served raw, lightly seasoned and drizzled with extra virgin olive oil.
- If left to soften, these make a fantastic and simple pasta sauce. Simply cook down with a little salt and olive oil.
Natoora's radical approach to seasonal sourcing is shaping the future of food
- We are revolutionising the food system.
- We work direct with growers who value flavour, biodiversity and heritage over yield.
- We give them the support they need to build a better future for food, rooted in small scale, sustainable agriculture that gives back to our planet.

lovely
Lovely, hard and green upon arrival but if you need them Next to bananas to ripen, they taste good
Delicious!
Loving these tomatoes - so flavoursome and just firm enough.
Mushy
Sadly not the superior quqlity I would have expected for 2 x tomatoes. Nice flavour but not worth paying full price for.
Absolutely delicious !
I look forward to Marinda tomato season as they really are special. The flavour is sensational - sweet flesh with a salty tang to the skin. They're firmer than most types of tomato with a more robust skin, & really need nothing more than a little sea salt & olive oil. Would love to have them all year, but their seasonality makes them a real treat.
Variable...
These can be absolutely delicious when you get a good batch, but as always with Natoora it's a lottery. My last batch went mouldy within 24 hours and had to be thrown away, which I hate doing especially if it's a premium product like this. Other batches have been prefect, and there's nothing nicer than a slicing a couple of these onto garlic-rubbed toast, and devouring with a drizzle of good oil and some crunchy salt....
Tiny, hard, flavorless
I had bought these before and they were very nice, but this time I received a few tiny, golf-ball sized green tomatoes, completely hard and under-ripe, devoid of flavor. What a rip-off for over 5 GBP!
