WHY SHOULD I UPGRADE MY PASTA?
Northern Pasta Co is obsessed about making the best possible pasta, and given it makes up the majority of any pasta dish, it’s worth it! Spelt pasta has a delicious nutty flavour, it cooks quickly plus people often say it “feels lighter” than regular wheat pasta.
WHAT IS SPELT?
Spelt is an ancient grain, believed to have been cultivated since 5000BC. This is great, because unlike a lot of our modern wheats it has not been genetically modified. Spelt does contain some gluten, but the gluten it does contain is more soluble. Because of that many people find it feels lighter than your regular wheat pasta. Best of all, spelt has a gorgeous, nutty flavour.
HOW IS IT MADE?
Northern Pasta Co is crafted end to end in the UK, from British farms and mills to your fork. The pasta is crafted using traditional Italian methods, using bronze dies (unlike the usual teflon) to extrude it for ultimate texture. This gives the pasta a slightly rough texture, perfect for clinging to sauce. It is then slow dried to enhance flavour.

Don’t forget to taste along the way for that perfect al dente bite - our pasta cooks quicker than most, so stay sharp! Save a splash of that starchy cooking water to elevate your sauce.
