Pick tender leaves from the plant to adorn your caprese salad, or chop and mix with olive oil for a fantastic pesto sauce for your pasta, magnifico!
Caprese Salad - Place alternate slices of mozzarella and beef tomato on a plate, sprinkle basil leaves over and drizzle with olive oil and season with a little salt and pepper.
Pesto - Combine pine nuts, basil, grated parmesan, garlic and olive oil in a food processor and blend. Stir into your favourite pasta.
The best way to look after basil is to let the plant tell you it needs watering, as it will start to wilt. The plants will quickly spring back up and the stress will actually increase the oil content they are producing, improving the flavour. It is also important not to water the plants too soon before harvesting the leaves, as this will dilute the flavour. Basil is highly susceptible to chill (below 10°C) or cold draughts - the leaves will start to blacken.

I cant believe this passed quality control. The top half had wet rotting leaves. Very disappointed.
Upside down most of the time
This seems to get turned upside down on delivery Gets covered in soil. But as good as any other brand.
Good quality and healthy basil plant.
Arrived with blackened leaves
Plant had blackened leaves when it arrived and didn't recover. Signs of it not being cared fot correctly. Waste of money.
Very variable quality
I buy this frequently, it is more expensive than most supermarket basil & is very variable in size & quality, it’s fine most of the time but probably better from Aldi!
Glorious British basil!
This is glorious! The negative reviews are unfair and misleading - mine is consistently fresh, green and healthy looking. It has an exquisite deep fragrant flavour and smells divine - the depth of flavour and fragrance is outstanding. Delicious added to pasta and risotto at the last minute, torn and scattered over vegetables and potatoes, as a pizza topping, even added to couscous and bulgur wheat. Make your own judgement - I think it's worth taking the risk!
