I prepared a mustard, salt and sugar crust and slow roasted this joint. It appeared to be tough as shoe leather and no-one could eat it. A total waste of time in preparing this meal which was very disappointing.
Beef was tough and very fatty with a big piece of gristle running all the way through it. No one enjoyed it and wouldnt buy again. Only saving grace was we got it in the flash sale but even then I feel we paid too much.
Smallest piece of beef
Was sent less than weight ordered and was the smallest joint of beef ever seen. Shrunk to nothing after cooking and was only enough for one person. Had to go out and buy bigger joint. Waste of my time even cooking it. Would not buy again and extremely disappointed.
Slow cooked in oven, tender as anything.
Bought two of these on special offer, I had read some of the other reviews (after I'd bought it for hosting Christmas Eve dinner) and decided to slow cook rather than roast. Browned it off in a pan first, then slow cooked in the oven for 4 hours, rested for half an hour, then sliced; the knife went through as if it was cutting soft butter, and everyone (including hubby who would have been honest if it was bad!) said it was lovely and really tender (I'm veggie, so didn't actually eat it). The leftovers were put into rolls for tea on Boxing Day (we were all too full for tea on Christmas Day!) , which went down equally well! Our experience was that it was good value for money, and would probably buy at full price too.
I like to have fat on the beef for basting. non at all on this. Very disappointed. It was not as tender as i had hoped.
worst beef ever
