We’re delighted that so many of you are loving our Ocado reuse products. Please help us to keep them circulating by handing back your empty vessels (with lids on) to your driver on your next delivery.

A little about Ocado Refill-Reuse

This product is part of a pilot of a new reusable packaging scheme to reduce the use of single-use packaging from customers' weekly shops at no extra cost.

The Refill-Reuse products are only available in limited areas as we gauge customers’ interest in shopping for refillable products. However, we hope to roll it out, alongside other products, to more of our customers in the future!

How does Refill-Reuse work?

It’s really simple:

1. Add the Refill-Reuse products to your weekly shop and check out as usual. The products will then be delivered with your regular groceries.
2. Pour your rice and/or pasta into your own containers.
3. Return the empty containers to your driver the next time you receive your Ocado shop.
4. The empty containers will be washed, sanitised, and refilled again.
5. Repeat!

Ocado Penne Pasta
Dried durum wheat semolina penne rigate pasta.

If you love a hearty, baked pasta dish or a thick tomato sauce, then penne is the perfect choice. The short cut, hollow middle and rough texture of penne will help to capture the full saucy flavour of your dish in every bite. For cold picnic pasta dishes in summer, add to a bowl of chunky vegetables, chopped herbs and coat in a zesty dressing or creamy sauce.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Decanting the pasta into your own container means we get the vessel back from you quicker, and the sooner it gets back to work, the more single use packaging it can replace!

Cooking guidelines

Cooking Instructions: Remove all packaging.
Boil: 11 mins

1. Place 80g of pasta per person in a saucepan of boiling water (1 litre of water per 80g dried pasta).
2. Cook for 11 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3. When the pasta is cooked, drain immediately.

All appliances vary. These are guidelines only. Ensure the product is pipping hot before serving. Do not reheat.

Caution:
Not suitable for microwave / grill / oven cooking.

Halloumi Pasta
Prep time: 10 mins
Cook time: 10 mins
Serves: 2

This halloumi pasta recipe is quick and moreish – an ideal no-fuss, nutritious lunch or dinner for any day of the week. Red onion, garlic and cherry tomatoes are brought together in an aromatic basil pesto sauce and tossed with chunks of golden fried halloumi and penne pasta.

Ingredients:
1 tbsp olive oil
½ red onion, thinly sliced
2 garlic cloves, grated or minced
200g cherry tomatoes, halved
250g halloumi, cut into 2cm cubes
1 tsp sea salt, plus extra for salting the pasta water
500g penne pasta
2 tbsp basil pesto
10g mint, leaves only, roughly chopped

Method
Step 1
Add the oil to a large frying pan or shallow casserole over medium heat. Add the onions, garlic, cherry tomatoes and halloumi chunks and season with the sea salt and a pinch of ground black pepper.

Step 2
Cook for 5-6 mins, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are soft and the halloumi is golden all over.

Step 3
Meanwhile, bring a saucepan of salted water to the boil and cook the pasta according to packet instructions, then drain, reserving 2 tbsp of pasta water for the sauce.

Step 4
Add the pasta to the vegetables and halloumi. Stir in the pesto and mix well, adding the reserved pasta water to help loosen the sauce.

Step 5
Sprinkle over the chopped mint and serve immediately.
