Product Information
Our English Cherries are grown on the gushing landscape of the Kentish border, the scenic Hampshire downs, cascading orchards of Suffolk and the rolling hills of Herefordshire, ranging from varieties such as Regina, Lapin’s, Karina, Kordia and Penny, to name but a few. At OrchardWorld we like to offer diversity all with their own distinguished flavours to tantalise your taste buds. A beautiful spring vision is to be had in the April full bloom, mesmerised by the bees hard at work together with the delicate butterflies adding an array of colour to the surrounding haven of beautiful white flowers. Then the July harvest are handpicked from the trees to protect their delicate skin with a flourish of sweet aromas to fill the air.
Cherries have been recorded as early as 72 BC being bought to Rome from north eastern Antolia, they were introduced to Sittingbourne in Kent by Henry VIII who had first tasted them in Northern Belgium. A cherry tree takes three to four years once it is planted in the orchard to produce its first crop of fruit and seven years to attain full maturity.
Whilst Cherries only have a short season in the UK from July to August, we are lucky enough to have some growers from America, Chile, Argentina, Spain, South Africa and Australia, allowing us to be able to supply to you for 46 weeks of the year. See below the country of origin, when they are available and some varieties you can expect to see in our packs.
