OrchardWorld would like to present the 'Dragon Fruit', a stunningly attractive fruit, with pink or yellow skin and green scales, resembling a dragon's skin. As you break open to reveal the flesh, quite often white or a vibrant fuchsia pink in colour and speckled with tiny black seeds. The mild sweet flavour, often likened to a cross between a pear and a kiwi adds a crunch with the seeds. Cultivated in sub-tropical regions on a climbing cactus plant scientifically known as a 'Hylocereus undatus'.
How to eat a Dragon Fruit:
Cut it open by slicing lengthways, then cut into quarters for easy eating.
Scoop out the flesh and cut into cubes to eat directly.
A Dragon Fruit is ripe when the colour is bright and a slight softness when pressed. Perfect to add to smoothies, salads or deserts.
