Packington Free Range Chicken:
At Packington Free Range we firmly believe that what is good for the animals and the land will naturally be good for us and better for our customers.
This is the philosophy of our great grandfather before us and we believe passionately in provenance, sustainable and ethical farming which fuels our drive to create an environmentally sound and welfare orientated farm,
This see's all of the farm we look after in environmental schemes, which helps encourage the biodiversity on our farm, in fact a RSPCA survey on our farm in 2012 showed that the number of different bird species had increased by 300% over a 5 year period!
We have also installed solar panels to help further reduce our carbon footprint.
All of this allows us to continue to farm the land here, in Staffordshire, for generations to come.
It's this simple philosophy that enables us to produce the most succulent, richly flavoured meat, often lost in today's intensive farming methods. We know you'll enjoy it.
Rob and Alec Mercer.

What chicken should be like, big and free range. Hopefully had a longer life than those tiny pumped full of water, to make them look bigger, Moy park or such like chickens.
It took more than an hour more than the 50 minutes cooking time on the label. It was bloody after 1 hour! It was tough and tasteless. All 3 of us have had diahorreah for 2 days despite half going in the bin.
What a change from last time!
A month ago I bought one and it was delicious. This one was still bloody and needed more cooking. It was almost inedible and half was thrown away. I'm going nowhere near this brand again, ever!
Tough and dry ...ruined dinner
Bought this on flash sales. Thank goodness it wasnt full price. Awful chicken. Really dry and had blood running through it even though the meat was white and cooked. Odd taste....this is going to so weird but it tasted like liver in parts. It ruined our family roast. Definitely wont but again.
femoral haematoma, blood everywhere
Blood in chicken when cooked. Can happen when young birds are mistreated I believe. Ruined it for us, huge clot urgh.
Quality hit and miss
Quality really hit and miss so stoping buying this; increasingly finding birds that still have lots of feather on that I have to pluck out myself before cooking. A couple of times the meat has had a green colour and the on last purchase, when I took the bird out of the packaging, one of the legs was covered in greenish slime. Bird smelt ok but did not want to risk cooking and eating so threw away. Shame as used to be very reliable in quality but over the past year, it has definitely slipped.
