History

Chateau Maucoil have a total of 45heactares of land under vine which is all farmed organically and have been certified since 2011. The estate has an enviable location with the unique terroir of the region, that is managed with care, precision and patience. Château Maucoil prefer ancient methods of viticulture such as furrowing, forming mounds and ploughing, tending to the vineyard with maximum respect for the people and the environment.

Regional information

Grapes are harvested from vines with a minimum age of 40 years, planted on the classic sandy soil, with large stone topsoil. Low yields around 25hl/ha and harvesting is carried out by hand, with the grapes then individually sorted by variety before vinification.

Tasting notes

Very fine Ruby red with superb black fruit and spicy notes. Intense on the palate with a lovely balance and elegance.

Vinification details

Grapes are sorted and go into concrete tanks, by grape variety and parcel. After takes around 30 days in vat, with pumping over, rack and return and punching down, the wines undergo a mixed ageing, in vats and in barrels previously used for one vintage, before being blended.
