ABOUT THE DISH
Mafaldine (Italian for 'little queens') are an alluring, ribbon-shaped pasta with beautiful wavy edges and a striking appearance. In 1995, the Italian government commemorated the Princess Mafalda of Savoy, in whose honour reginette (also known as 'mafaldine') were created, with a limited edition stamp. Our chefs simmer the ragù for several hours with plenty of aromatics including Chianti red wine until the meat yields all its rich flavours. To top it all off, we serve with delicious Italian formaggio. Follow the instructions we include with your kit and enjoy a 5* pasta dish in 5 minutes.

Storage

STORAGE: Like all fresh products, our artisan pasta has a limited shelf life. Keep chilled & consumed by the date indicated.
FREEZING: Alternatively freeze the pasta before use by date. The pasta can be cooked frozen for 3-4 minutes. The sauce should be defrosted in the fridge overnight before cooking.

Preparation and Usage

1. Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil. Salt the water (around ½tbsp per litre).
2. Cook the pasta in the boiling water for 3 minutes. Stir regularly to prevent sticking.
3. Whilst the pasta cooks, put the sauce in a pan and add 2 tbsp of the boiling pasta cooking water. Take care to ensure you squeeze all the sauce from the pouch. Gently heat until steaming and then turn off the heat.
4. Lift the pasta out of the water and transfer to the sauce. Toss gently to coat. Sprinkle over the cheese.
5. Serve immediately. Buon appetito!

Very nice.

Contrary to some of the other negative reviews we found this really nice. I bought it in a flash sale and because there are only two of us, I halved the sauce and froze it along with the second bag of pasta. We found the pasta a really interesting shape and very tasty. I added some salt pepper and olive oil to it. As for the sauce… it had lots of flavour and had some pieces of beef in it. All on all it was a nice meal and served with some focaccia it was very filling. I could not afford it at full price but if I could I would buy again.

has the taste changed?

We have had this a few times - only on a flash sale as too expensive otherwise. It doesnt serve 4 - serves 3. Seems like the taste has changed - tasted like it had cinnamon in this time

expensive and tasteless

Still disappointing at half price. Pasta was an interesting shape. Meat sauce was slimy and very bland. Reminiscent of school lunches or other inoffensive mass catering. Wont buy again

If you get it on offer…..

I got it in a flash and it was really nice .. portion is never feeding 4 people unless they eat 300 calories a day. Quality was good, not enough salt for my liking my that’s personal taste

not even average..

What an expensive disappointment - all promises that dont deliver! This is a packet of pasta, that is no better than any other brand, with a tiny sachet of very bland beef stew. It makes no more than 2 portions and is a complete rip off at that highly inflated price moreover, the pasta is dry as the sauce isnt enough to coat properly. I will avoid this brand in future.
