Product Information
If you have missed your travels this year, this beautiful artisan cheese from Belgium is one for your cheeseboard to fulfil your wanderlust from the comfort of your home. Described by Paxton's cheese buyer as "brimming with butterscotch notes and an utterly addictive crystalline texture".
Also affectionately known as ‘OG Kristal’, this Belgian cow's milk cheese is a comforting, Gouda-style cheese, with a distinctive bright red rind and satisfyingly dense and crystalline texture.
The taste of the cheese is full-bodied and mature, with notes of creamy caramel and a comforting finish. Each wheel is aged for at least 18 months, using pasteurised milk from a single farm that has been making cheese for more than two generations.
Made by the Groendal business, the cheese is historically known as ‘Brokkeloud Roeselare’, but they chose to change the name for the broader market.
This cheese pairs well with fruits such as apples and pears, as well as with nuts and dark chocolate. It also goes nicely with full-bodied red wines and strong beers.

Old Groendal cheese won Gold at the 2019 World Cheese Awards
