Product Information

Pol Roger Brut Reserve is the house's "signature" cuvée, composed of more than 30 base wines drawn from at least two vintages and the three classic cépages, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay.
Pol Roger Brut Reserve is never released until the youngest component is at least three years old and, to satisfy British preferences, the champagne is rested for an additional period after disgorging.

Pol Roger founded his renowned Champagne house in Epernay in 1849. Through five generations, his direct descendants have run this proudly independent family house, producing Champagnes of worldwide acclaim.
The signature Champagne of the House, Brut Reserve is an equal blend of the three Champenois grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, from 30 different crus. We use 25% reserve wines to produce this cuvee. After a minimum of three years ageing in our cellars, the style combines complexity, balance and distinction.

History

Champagne Pol Roger was founded in 1849, the cellars run for 7km and are on three levels, the deepest known as the 'cave de prisse de mousse' at 33m below street level, as the name suggests this is where the secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle.

Regional information

Brut Réserve is blended from 30 still base wines from different vineyards, different vintages and the three main grape varieties which dominate the champagne region, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

Tasting notes

On the nose, the champagne is dominated by white flowers, green apple, brioche and a trace of minerality. On the palate there are notes of stone fruits, a certain nuttiness and a hint of honey supporting the freshness of the acidity

Vinification details

Brut Réserve is made up of wines drawn from the cuvée (the first, light pressing) and where appropriate the taille (second pressing). After clarification of the must at 8ºC, a process unique to Pol Roger, the fermentation is thermoregulated to ensure the optimum retention of fresh fruit character and aromas. The wine is riddled by hand by a team of remueurs, a rarity in Champagne, then undergoes dégorgement à froid, a new technique for disgorging and finally a dosage of 12 g/l is added
