Product Information
Inspired by the lesser known gin styles of the past, Celebrated Butter Gin joins the Portobello Road Gin family.
In Sketches by Boz, Charles Darwin eloquently describes the products on offer in a typical London Gin Palace of the
1830s, including the Celebrated Butter Gin among other, equally inviting and wholesome drinks.
Distilled in tiny batches on our thirty-litre copper pot still, Copernicus IV at The Distillery on Portobello Road. Each batch of our traditional London Dry is distilled one additional time with a block of unsalted English butter in the still, resulting in a subtle buttery taste and a velvety smooth feel.
Noticeably more viscous than the classic Portobello Road London Dry, on the nose all the Portobello Road elements are there; juniper integrated with citrus and spice and a gentle clean, floral note unpins everything. On the palate it seems weightier and perhaps a tad sweeter. The juniper and coriander seed is amplified, with delicate floral and spice notes present but subtle. The finish is long, the spiciness expected from Portobello Road is more subdued and instead the juniper persists, lingering in a long, pleasant manner.
Portobello Celebrated Butter Gin is like meeting your friends twin when you didn¿t know they had one, catching you unawares, befuddling ones expectations in a thoroughly welcome turn.
