Product information

Brioche Loaf from Vendée Hand-plaited Pure Butter

Since the Middle Ages families from the Vendee region who live in the country have been making the "Gache" brioche loaf with breadcrumbs in the form of bread for Easter. In the 19th century the job of the baker became more general in rural France. These artisans changed the recipe and presentation of the brioche by plaiting it.
This lighter plaited brioche then became the cake for all celebrations. 20kg and 30kg brioches are still made to celebrate the traditional "Brioche Dance" to celebrate weddings in the Vendee region.

Kind of meh

It's ok? It does the job of brioche, but why is it so, so dry?? Decent amount of time left before BBD, so no excuse for this, especially when other brands retain moisture after BBD. Brought the unsliced loaf specifically to avoid this issue, but no joy.

I really enjoyed this brioche, soft and fluffy and you can notice the very subtle hint of rum.

Only one

This is the only supermarket bought brioche that I found that doesnt contain lots of chemical nasties. The loaf is huge with a short date so I cut up slices of half of it and put them in the freezer. Keeps very well and is easy to defrost in the toaster.

Dry and tasteless and for the price I would expect it to be edible at least.
