History

In 1997, under the leadership of Dr Anton Rupert and Baron Edmond de Rothschild, Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons was established. Both men later relinquished the reigns to their respective sons. The Rupert family own three other wine estates in the picturesque Francschloek Valley. Edmond de Rothschild Heritage includes vineyards in France, Spain, Argentina, New Zealand and South Africa.

Tasting notes

Fresh wild berry aromas with flinty, mineral, exotic herbal notes. Dense, fine tannin structure with exceptional length. Decanting recommended.

Vinification details

The grapes were handpicked from mid February to end March 2012 with an average yield of 8 ton per hectare. Fermented in wooden vats and stainless steel tanks. 16 to 20 days skin contact resulted in excellent colour, concentration, aroma and flavour compounds. Matured for 22 months in new French Oak Barrels.
