Recipe change?
What has happened to Ryvita? They taste horrible now.
Recipe or packaging change?
I've been eating these daily for 10 plus years. They had a lovely crispy texture and taste until the last few months. I've bought 3 packets now (via 3 different supermarkets, just in case there was a dodgy batch) and they have been substandard. They were almost stale tasting, with no crispness to them and lighter in colour. Given the price hike over the last few months and the quality, I won't be purchasing anymore.
Has the recipe changed?
I used to love these but a recent packet tasted salty and had a softer texture than I remembered. I put this down to a dodgy batch, threw the packet away and bought a replacement. This new packet tasted the same and I noticed that the colour of this 'Dark Rye' crisp bread was lighter more like the 'Original Rye'. Shame because there isn't really another dark rye crisp bread out there.
Bad British imitation.
The Super Noodles of crispbread.
Reformulated?
I used to love Ryvita, especially the dark rye version. Ive been enjoying it since I was a kid, but the last packet I was different. I dont think it was stale but the texture seemed less satisfying and had lost some of the bite I so enjoy, like it was missing an ingredient. The flavour also seemed different and overall it had a cotton wool texture when chewing. So for me the jury is out. If the next packet is the same Im defecting to Sweden.
