Very nice
Thickens beautifully and has lovely rich, piquant flavours. The recipe should be seen as a guide, really. You can add whatever you want, I guess. Cant go wrong for the price.
Too rich.
Added the tinned tomatoes as suggested. It was far too rich and ruined the meal for me. The taste over-powered the vegan sausages.
Quick fix
I usually make my own recipe but always have this on standby, I add a tin of butter beans, tomato purée and a chicken gel stock and it always turns out really well. We are meat eaters but like to have two meat free days and Richmond meat free sausages work really well, just fry off first with onions and peppers.
whats not to like
Great addition to a sausage casserole really complimented the meal. Really good strong flavour which really left you wanting more and more.
yuck!
Awful! The sauce was separated, half watery and half flops of thick sauce. I mixed it well too! Tasted like old weeds in pond water. Never again.
Suggestion of tomatoes instead of water ruined it
I followed the recipe suggestion of using a tin of tomatoes instead of water and bitterly regretted it when I ate the finished dish. It was too strong and rich, thick and gloopy. Stick to the original recipe.
