Delicious
I doubled the quantity of chorizo recommended, added 2Tbsp tomato paste & 750 ml cold water rather than 1L. No changes to any other recommendations. Another reviewer suggested adding saffron. Very tasty with a side salad.
Not good
Paella should sing with sunshine and piquancy, this was bland and had an unpleasant powdery mouth feel. Avoid.
Bland
Found this very bland and tasteless which I found surprising as have come to rely on Schwartz packet meals to produce quick, easy and delicious mid-week meal. Also thought it could have used less water as I ended up over cooking rice in order to dry it out enough to eat without being too sloppy.......Won't bother wasting my money on this again.
great taste and easy to use
This dried Paella spice mix helped to create a lovely tasting dish. It doesn't contain any Saffron but I felt that the balance of spices more than made up for it. I enjoyed it with chicken and chorizo so I haven't tried it with prawns as per the suggested recipe and I added more chorizo as I love the stuff but highly recommend it.
Pretty good
Paella is one of my favourite meals so thought Id give this a go. It is a fairly authentic mix (ingredients are similar to authentic Spanish paella mixes) but it IS missing a key Spanish ingredient - saffron! I followed the recipe on the packet but also added a sprinkle of saffron and a tbsp tomato purée to my chicken and chorizo paella and it was lovely. Its cheap and tasty and quite quick to make so its a repeat buy for me.
spicy and nothing to do with paella
authentic?? far from it!
