Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
Origin:
Distilled blended and bottled in Scotland
Brand
Shackleton ordered 25 cases of Mackinlay's Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky to take on his expedition of 1907. In 2007, eleven intact bottles containing this perfectly preserved whisky were recovered from under the ice beneath Shackleton's base camp.
This has inspired our Master Blender, Richard Paterson, to create this Shackleton whisky as a personal and deeply felt project. He has combined the best Highland malt whiskies, allowing them to marry over a long period to create an enigmatic blended malt with a dash of body and a whisper of smoke. It has complex notes of vanilla, honey and orchard fruits with real warmth and depth at its heart, like Shackleton himself.
A Contribution from Sales of this whisky will be made to the Antarctic Heritage Trust (NZ) www.nzaht.org. This will support both the ongoing care of Shackleton's Antarctic base and the Trust's mission to conserve, share and encourage the spirit of exploration; a spirit embodied by Shackleton.

lovely blend, just what you expect from a bottle of whisky
Recommended
This is not a blended whisky, it's a blended single malt and it's good stuff, especially so when it's on offer. I probably wouldn't buy it at full price but I can't think of any malt I'd be happy to full price for with the massively inflated prices being asked.
Fine Blended Whisky
More body and flavour than an average blend. I like the Shackleton link, but not at too premium a price.
A great every day whisky
It's a smooth, lovely whisky. This is a wonderfully lovely whisky that I could highly recommend.
It\x27s all about personal preference
Firstly single malt is wasted on me (unless it's Aberlour, which now has a price tag of £89, but used to be £60 cheaper; thats what a gold star does for you!). So my "quaffing" whisky would be Whyte & MacKay, my "smooth" whisky would be Woodman. However, I like an element of bite, a tingle on the tongue, and I don't want to broadcast this, but the Shackleton whisky, with water, is bliss. If you need to add lemonade/ginger ale/Crabbies, then simply Whyte and Mackay. If you enjoy a blend, then Shackleton; try it.
Tasteless and disappointing
Bought because it was on offer. Quite disappointing. Would not buy again.
