Tea is too cheap. We've been drinking tea for 1000 years. A kilo of tea cost more than gold back then. Now the average teabag is cheaper than a penny sweet. Mad.

This means two things; the quality has gone down so our everyday tea has come to taste "meh" and the smallholder farmers who grow it mostly live in poverty.

Tea is bought from many different countries and in different ways - some direct, some via auction, some via brokers or traders. This makes things murky. And almost impossible to know what the smallholder farmer who grew the tea has been paid.

That can't be right.

So we thought "Let's start again!"
