Stauning Bastard Rye Danish Whisky Mezcal Cask

Stauning Rye Danish Whisky, a Nordic Whisky, with a Mexican twist, that has matured additionally in Mezcal casks. Mezcal, the traditional spirit from Mexico, made from the heart of the agave, with unique sweet and savoury qualities.
Stauning Bastard is made with 100% local grains - rye and barley - that are floor malted and kiln dried in the Stauning distillery, double-distilled in small direct-fired copper pot stills, then matured in new American oak barrels and Mexican Mezcal casks to produce rye whisky that has a long sweet, slightly smoky finish with a hint of brown sugar and pepper.
Stauning Bastard is the winner of a Gold at San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2023.

Enjoy drinking Stauning Bastard Rye Whisky neat, on the rocks, or in a Stauning Boulevardier:


4 cl. (1.5 oz.) Stauning Bastard Rye Whisky,
3 cl. (1 oz.) Campari,
3 cl. (1 oz.) sweet vermouth.


Stir the ingredients in a tumbler filled with ice. Garnish with an orange peel.

Located in the flat and serene landscape of West Coast Denmark - the place that many Danes come to unwind and get back to nature - Stauning Whisky Distillery was founded in 2005 by a collective of nine friends setting out to make a difference and bring whisky distilling back to Denmark. They focused on traditional production methods to create whisky reflecting the Danish ethos. Scents of citrus and sweet tobacco blend with mild smoke and wildflowers. Soft and sweet in the mouth with spicy notes of herbs and roasted caramel, dried fruit, and cinnamon. A long sweet and gently smoky finish, with hints of brown sugar and pepper.
