Stauning El Clasico Rye Danish Whisky Vermouth Cask

A Nordic whisky with Iberian blood flowing through its veins. Stauning El Clásico takes Stauning Rye Whisky, which has been aged in new American oak barrels, then additionally matures it in Spanish vermouth casks. Inspired by the classic Manhattan cocktail, with a bittersweet and herbaceous twist.
Stauning El Clásico is made with 100% local grains - rye and barley - that are floor malted and kiln dried in the Stauning distillery, then double-distilled in small direct-fired copper pot stills.
Stauning El Clásico was voted Best Danish Rye Whisky at World Whiskies Awards 2023 and is the winner of a Double Gold medal at the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition 2022 and Gold medals at the International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC) 2023 and San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2021.

Enjoy drinking Stauning El Clásico Rye Whisky neat, on the rocks, or in a Stauning Sazerac:


6 cl. (2 oz.) Stauning El Clásico Rye Whisky,
1 cl. (0.5 oz.) absinthe,
1 cl. (0.5 oz.) sugar syrup,
2 cl. (1 oz.) cognac,
3 dashes Peychaud's Bitters.


Rinse a low-ball glass with Absinthe then discard. Stir over remaining ingredients over ice then strain into the glass. Rub a lemon peel on the rim of the glass and drop it in the drink to garnish.

Stauning

Located in the flat and serene landscape of West Coast Denmark - the place that many Danes come to unwind and get back to nature - Stauning Whisky Distillery was founded in 2005 by a collective of nine friends setting out to make a difference and bring whisky distilling back to Denmark. They focused on traditional production methods to create whisky reflecting the Danish ethos.
