£66£84.29 per litreProduct information
Distinctive Danish triple malt whisky. Stauning KAOS triple malt whisky is the marriage of rye, single malt, and heather-and-peat smoked single malt, to create a complex yet smooth taste, adding hints of smoke and spice to Stauning’s signature rye whisky.
Crafted with local Danish rye and barley grains that are 100% floor malted and kiln-dried in the distillery. Using traditional techniques matched with intention and simplicity, Stauning’s exceptional whisky-making process is a celebration of nature, artistry, and exceptional quality. Matured in a selection of virgin American white oak barrels, and first-fill fortified wine and spirits oak casks. Delivering notes of citrus fruits, subtle smoke, and sweet spice.
The name KAOS is based in Danish history when Thorvald Stauning used the phrase “Stauning or Chaos” to win re-election as Prime Minister in 1935. Stauning Whisky brings you both Stauning and KAOS.
Stauning KAOS Whisky is winner of a Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2022, Gold at New York International Spirits Competition 2023 and Double Platinum at the American Spirits Council of Tasters 2023.

Located in the flat and serene landscape of West Coast Denmark - the place that many Danes come to unwind and get back to nature - Stauning Whisky Distillery was founded in 2005 by a collective of nine friends setting out to make a difference and bring whisky distilling back to Denmark. They focused on traditional production methods to create whisky reflecting the Danish ethos. What they created was a purpose-built distillery that embodies modern Danish design and a thoughtfully designed production process.

Just right!
Taste and texture are just right.
Surprising
I received a mini sample from Ocado. Very pleasant. I tried a sip or two neat and then with ginger ale, the way I usually drink whisky. Very smooth and drinkable with a smoky edge. Unfortunately smoky, peaty flavours are not really my taste so I probably wouldn't buy it, even if my budget allowed. Thanks for the sample though, which added a bit of hygge to my home!
smoky and smooth
Received a sample from Ocado. Oh wow! This is very high quality whisky and I loved it. It has an almost sweet taste and is so easy and smooth on the palette. The smokiness in the aftertaste is lovely too.
Pleasant amount of smoky flavour
I received a sample from Ocado and enjoyed trying this whisky. I was surprised to find it was Danish but it was very drinkable. A good amount of smoky flavour without being too much though not as much depth as my favourite Scottish whisky.
Smoky and peaty
I recently had the pleasure of trying this smoky and peaty whisky, and it was a remarkable experience. The aroma was dominated by the scent of a campfire, with hints of earthy and medicinal notes. Upon taking the first sip, the smokiness enveloped my palate, giving way to a deep and complex peat flavor that lingered long after each taste. The whisky's smoky character was balanced by subtle sweetness and a touch of saltiness, creating a harmonious and intriguing profile. If you appreciate bold and distinctive flavors, this smoky and peaty whisky is a must-try for any whisky connoisseur.
Good and Bad
I'm reviewing this as I was given a free sample from Ocado. A little harsh straightaway, but mellows out with a warm Carmel finish. Reminded me more of Bourbon, would probably be great in an Old Fashioned, I would just need another sample...
