Brand details
Taittinger is one of the last great Champagne Houses to remain independent and is owned and actively managed by the family named on the label. The family are guardians of Taittinger's style, quality and integrity. The hallmark of their fine Champagnes is the high proportion of Chardonnay used in their winemaking which is key, in the Champagne region, for producing wines of great elegance and finesse. Additionally, with its vineyard ownership of 288 ha (one of the largest in Champagne), Taittinger can guarantee a flawless signature, and wines heralded worldwide for their consistent quality. Folies de la Marquetterie is our first single vineyard Champagne. Made in limited quantities it is a blend of 45% Chardonnay and 55% Pinot Noir, harvested from the 'Folies' parcel surrounding the Château de la Marquetterie. Only first pressings are used, a selection of which are vinified in oak casks to make this full-bodied, harmonious Champagne of great depth and structure.

History
Champagne Taittinger's origins date back to 1734 with the founding of the original House by Jacques Fourneaux. The Taittinger link was established in 1931 when Pierre Taittinger acquired the House. He was stationed at the Château de la Marquetterie when serving in the 1st World War and fell in love with the property and its vineyards and eventually purchased the company. Today, the Reims based House remains owned and actively managed by the family named on the label.

Vinification details
The vineyard surrounding Taittinger's "Château de la Marquetterie" produces top quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for this unique single vineyard wine. Made only in tiny amounts from the first pressings, it reflects the influence of its "terroir". The depth and finesse is enhanced by a small amount being fermented in oak casks and from a minimum of 3 years ageing on the lees. A dosage of 9g of cane sugar per litre is added after disgorgement.
