essential for strawberry jam

Some form of pectin is essential for strawberry jam; if you try to make it with just strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice you'll end up boiling it for ages. With this stuff it sets quickly and you get bright red, flavourful jam. These sachets are very economical in comparison to buying jam sugar. Jam sugar costs at least 1 pound more per kilo than normal sugar, and one of these sachets, which costs 50p, turns 1kg of normal sugar into jam sugar.

works well, no funny aftertaste

Don't know what the other reviewer is talking about. the perserves i have made work very well with this, i haven't tasted anything wrong with them. i'm buying my second batch after some successful banana and pear jam, and some chilli jelly.

unpleasant stuff

For some reason this stuff makes the jam taste wrong, whereas their sugar mixed with pectin doesn't. Go figure.
