Product information

What's special about this tea?
Well, if you've ever travelled to South America and particularly Argentina you'll see yerba being drunk by nearly everyone. Literally. Drunk to help maintain a healthy weight and for its stimulating properties, our yerba tastes a little like a smoky green tea.

Love it

I love this; light, refreshing and slightly sweet. There are two types of mate drunk in Argentina: yerba mate and mate de coca; when visiting businesses, you are generally offered coffee or mate and I was never sure which type of mate it was. For a real energy boost, instead of yerba mate (an infusion of mate leaves, with a high caffeine content), try mate de coca but do it in Argentina and do not bring any back to the UK (it is an infusion of coca leaves, the source of cocaine, and is illegal pretty well everywhere apart from the southern countries of South America).

I like teapigs but it's yerba mate isn't a keeper

The flavour was so mild, I put the bag back in and kept it the whole time otherwise it was almost like drinking hot water. There are better yerba mate tea products - either on its own or mixed with herbs or fruits - in health stores and better value, too.

Love the taste of Yerba Mate

I haven't tried different brands of Yerba Mate nor tried it in South America so no expert but really enjoyed these. Will buy again

The label says you will love or hate this tea but it is not strong and I doubt whether people will have a strong reaction to it even if they don't like it. We loved it. It is a nice pick-me-up too. Will definitely buy again.

Good strong flavour, refreshing

If you like interesting tea, this is definitely worth trying. Not sure of the health benefits, but the Argentinian tennis players seem to do well on it!

Worth Trying

This didn't have the marmite effect on me. I quite like it as something different but only occasionally. I feared it might be similar to red bush, which I don't like at all, but I found it pleasant and refreshing. Haven't noticed any energy boost though, and goodness knows I could do with one.
