Product Information
Viticulture
Vertical shoot positioned, cane pruned vines planted at a density of 2525 plants per hectare. The soil originates from an ancient riverbed, comprised of free draining, stony silts with a silt loam topsoil.
Winemaking
Temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks with carefully selected yeast strains, chosen for their ability to capture the full aromatic intensity and complexity of Waihopai Pinot Grigio.
The Colour
The Ned Pinot Grigio signature pale salmon blush.
The Aroma
A bouquet of ginger spiced, nectarine and golden skin apples with the delicate floral lift of fresh cut spring flowers.
The Palate
Extended skin contact on a selection of the ripest fruit parcels is essential for promoting the signature salmon pink colour of The Ned Pinot Grigio. Equally important is the positive effect this technique has on the wine's depth of flavour and overall mouth feel; balance and drink ability is achieved via a fresh thread of Waihopai acidity and the long, lightly drying tannin tail.
Crafted to enjoy whilst young and fresh; we recommend drinking this wine within 2 - 3 years of vintage date.
Food Matching
A highly versatile food wine; our Pinot Grigio has been internationally recognised over several vintages as the best wine match for Cantonese Dim Sim.
Please drink responsibly: The UK Chief Medical Officers recommend adults do not regularly drink more than 14 units per week

Wine of New Zealand
Further description
A portion of the Pinot Gris fruit, which is naturally pink in colour, underwent a period of skin contact to enhance colour and texture in the juice. The fruit was then gently pressed to stainless steel tanks for fermentation. Selected yeast strains were chosen to enhance varietal intensity and mouthfeel with a slow, steady fermentation to preserve these aromatics. The salmon pink colour is a stylistic signature of The Ned Pinot Grigio.

History
Born of the Waihopai Valley, The Ned represents the vibrant diversity that is so prevalent in the Marlborough wine-growing region. One of Marlborough’s famous peaks, The Ned mountain served as the playground for Marisco founder, Brent Marris, during his youth. The ethos “Young At Heart” encapsulates this wine; a true expression of grassroots winemaking that places the energy and liveliness of adventure in every bottle.

Regional information
Fruit is sourced from vineyards located in the Southern Valleys of Marlborough, offering a diverse range of soil types from free draining river beds to deep loams. Alongside various soil types, vineyards combine north facing slopes and diverse micro-climates. All characteristics require precision viticulture to highlight the unique flavours from each site.
Tasting notes
Uniquely salmon pink in colour, The Ned Pinot Grigio displays juicy aromas of nectarine and white peach with underlining nuances of spice. The palate is lush and bright with juicy white peach flavours supported by spicy poached pear. This leads to an unctuous length stemming from vibrant Marlborough ripeness.
