Toschi Nocino di Modena liqueur

A liquer that is native to Modena and one of our company’s historic products.
Toschi Nocino follows all the production rules for products with the "Tradition and Flavours of Modena" label, the umbrella brand created by the Modena Chamber of Commerce to distinguish food products made in the local tradition. Each bottle has the indication of the
year of harvesting nuts.To produce the Nocino, once cut the walnut into four parts, they were placed, together with sugar, alcohol and spices, in glass jars and exposed to the sun for 40 or 60 days. To get Nocino di Modena Toschi, the infusion obtained is cleverly aged for over 2 years.

The traditional recipe of “Nocino di Modena” wants to gather the husk of fresh walnuts the night of St. John, on June 24th. (Tradition and flavor of Modena).
Made according to an ancient recipe from the Toschi family, Nocino is one of the typical products of the company. On the night of Saint John, which corresponded to the summer solstice, women disappeared in the darkness of the countryside and gathered under the walnut tree. The most expert woman, barefoot, climbed on the ladder and chose the most intact nuts, touched them softly to keep the dew of the night, and she put them in the basket.
In the meantime, some bonfires were switched in the courtyard and the hull walnuts were deposited on the ground, on empty juta bags, in order to receive again the night dew, considered the panacea of ​​all evils.
The Nocino di Modena Toschi, with distinctive bouquet and intense and unmistakable flavor, is ideal for serving smooth, at room temperature, at the end of the meal. The diffusion and the strong bond with local territory and tradition, has extended its way to new and modern variants, with ice in summer or hot as a punch during the winter.
