History
Founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot, the house was later taken over by his widow Madame Clicquot at the age of 27 in 1810. Through determination, intuition and acumen Madame Clicquot not only created the first recorded vintage in the champagne region but built up the Veuve Clicquot property to make it one of the foremost vineyards in all of Champagne.
Regional Information
Produced in Champagne, a small wine producing region in the northeast of France. Maison Veuve Clicquot is located in Reims, the largest city in the Champagne province.

Vinification Details
The quality of the 2008 harvest was exceptional, with great potential for ageing. 2008 was declared a Veuve Clicquot Vintage, the third in the decade following 2002 and 2004 and the House's 65th since its first Vintage of 1810. New to this 2008 Vintage: 5% of the wines were produced and aged in wooden casks. This was to increase the complexity and aromatic richness of our Vintages. These cask-aged wines act as the spices for the blend, bringing very lightly woody, vanilla and toasted aromas.

same taste as a NV

You'd appreciate this champagne if you prefer "dryer" Brut! no noticeable difference from a NV one so not worth spending extra for vintage, taste exactly the same as a NV.

Great Champagne

Its difficult to say this is great value at over £40 per bottle but for some reason it is frequently on offer in one of many wine deals on here. If you love toasty champagnes this is a winner all day long, bit of citrus and honey/butter finish it off. It's a great champagne, wonderful flavours and as an indulgence tastes even better if you can pick it up for less than £40. Find an excuse to celebrate and splash out on a bottle or two or maybe buy early for the festive season.

decent quality

The nose is nice blended with toasty, fruity and a little bit floral. The taste is honey like and very easy going. Medium length. very smooth structure and got quite a bit characters still.

My absolute favourite!

This champagne is my absolute favourite. 2002 was an incredible year for champagne and I dont suppose bottles of this vintage will be around forever! I have been fortunate to try lots of others - including the famous Crystal but this is still my favourite. Its a bargain at usual price - cant believe its on offer!
